FAQ’S about Pattern Design Licensing

What is art licensing?
Art licensing allows your business to use a designer’s artwork—like my surface patterns—on your products
You are purchasing the rights to use a design without owning it outright.
In my case, you can choose to license design(s) either non-exclusive or exclusivelly
details on those options are below

As the Licensee, you pay a licensing fee to me (the artist) in exchange
for the right to use the artwork according to the specific terms we agree on.

NOTE:
You do not need a license to sell finished goods you have created with fabric
with my designs purchased from my website or from Spoonflower

What is a NON-exclusive license?

A non-exclusive license allows you to select one of my existing designs
to be produced by your preferred printer and sold as finished products within a single product category.

Keep in mind, this type of license means the same design may also be licensed to other businesses
and will remain available on platforms like Spoonflower,
where it can be purchased on fabric, wallpaper, and other items by the public.

What is an Exclusive license?
Exclusive license terms are customized and mutually agreed upon before any design work begins.

As the designer, I retain the right to use or license the design for any uses not outlined in our agreement.
For instance, if you license a design exclusively for kids clothes, I may still license that same design
in unrelated categories such as Wallpaper or kid’s bedding.

When the license term ends, you’ll have the first option to renew.
If you choose not to re-license, full rights to the design revert back to me.

Can you adjust colors or scales?

Vector-based patterns can be customized in both color and scale to better align with your brand or product needs.
Please use the licensing request form to get in touch about available adjustments

What color modes can you provide?

My designs can be provided in the RGB system for digital printing.
I can also change most of the colors to a CMYK system for ink printing like wrapping paper or packaging.
And I can also provide the Pantone color codes for your chosen design.

Are your designs seamless repeating patterns?

Absolutely! Every design is made to repeat perfectly edge-to-edge, so it flows beautifully when printed continuously
